Age

  • Au pairs are generally aged 18-25, but with exceptions for some EU countries until 30 years old.

Salary (Pocket money) 

  • On average an au pair in Germany can expect to earn between  230-300 euro/week

Number of hours to work and days off

  • Au pairs in Germany or an au pair in Deutschland usually work between 30-35 hrs/week and usually get 2 days off per week

Visas

  • No visa requirements for au pairing in Germany for EU nationals
  • Visa and work permission requirements for Germany au pairs that are non EU nationals

Duration of stay

  • EU nationals- no time limit

Health Insurance

  • There are obligations for the au pair to take out travel and health insurance and it is highly advisable to do so to ensure cover in the event of an emergency
